The Analytical Chemistry Laboratory consists of
three separate laboratories equipped with state-ofthe-
art analytical instruments for both qualitative
and quantitative analysis of nonvolatile organics,
volatile organics, and elements and ions in plant
tissue, water, soil, and air.
The Analytical Chemistry Laboratory fulfills three basic functions:
- to maintain a wide spectrum of analytical instruments for researchers to address questions related to the quality, quantity, and dynamics of
chemicals or biochemicals of interest in plants, microorganism, growth medium, air, water, etc.,
- to provide technical expertise to assist researchers in using analytical chemistry equipment, and
- to coordinate efficient laboratory resource utilization and the training of personnel in the laboratory.
The operating philosophy of the Analytical Chemistry Laboratory is to encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration.
